by Thing you ought to remember… that Your wealth is just an entrusted thing…
Allah Ta’ala said in His Book:
آَمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَأَنْفِقُوا مِمَّا جَعَلَكُمْ مُسْتَخْلَفِينَ فِيهِ فَالَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا مِنْكُمْ وَأَنْفَقُوا لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ كَبِيرٌ
“Believe in Allah and His messenger and spend (in charity) out of the (substance) whereof He has made you heirs, For, those of you who believe and spend (in charity)- for them is a great Reward.” (Al Hadeed: 7)
Among wisdoms from the verse above are:
The order to have faith in Allah and His Messenger
Motivation to spend wealth in charity
Great rewards of faith and charity
Al Qurthubi explained in his translation of Noble Qur’an regarding this verse: “This verse contains an indication that basically all wealth in this world belong to Allah. Servants possess nothing but whatever Allah pleased for them. And whoever spend his wealth in His cause, will be as one spends other’s wealth by the owner’s permission, thus he will get abundant of rewards.”
He also added, “This means that your wealth is not truly yours. You are only a waakil or the one replaces the true Owner of those wealth. Thus, make best of your chance by spending them in His cause before them gone and being transferred to your successors.”
Then he enclosed his explanation for the verse, by saying, ” Those who believe and perform good deeds amongst you, and spending their wealth in Allah’s cause, their returns is indeed gracious, the Heaven” (Tafseer Al Qurthubi, 17/238)
By this, Qurthubi pointed out that our wealth is just an entrusted. All of them is permitted to use in His way, in good things and not bad ones. If they were taken, then they are His. One should do no protest, nor dislike it, since originally human are poor and possess nothing of them.
