Ruling for A person who Claim to Know about the unseen

Question:

Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Shalih Al Uthaymeen was asked:

What is the ruling for a person who claim to know about the unseen?

Answer:

A person who claim to know about the unseen is an infidel, as he has belied Allah the Glorified and Exalted, Who declared (which can be translated as),

“Say: “None in the heavens or on the earth has knowledge of the Unseen save Allah. They do not know when they will be raised to life.”[An-Naml/The Ant : 65]

Allah commanded His prophet Muhammad -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- to tell all mankind that none on the earth or in the heavens has knowledge about the unseen save Allah the Glorified and Exalted. Surely, anyone who claim that he has any knowledge about the unseen, has belied Allah the Glorified and Exalted over this declaration. Lets ask them, How could you know about the unseen, whereas the Prophet himself didn’t know about it? Do you think you are more noble that the Messenger -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him-?

If they replied, “We are nobler that the Messenger -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him-“, then by that answer, they’ve committed infidelity. While if they said that the Messenger of Allah – peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- is nobler than them, then we shall say, “Why didn’t the Messenger know about the unseen, while you know about it?”

Allah decreed, which can be translated as,

“He is the Knower of the Unseen, and He does not disclose His Unseen to anyone. other than to a Messenger whom He chooses (for the bestowal of any part of the knowledge of the Unseen),  whereafter He appoints guards who go before him and behind him, “ [Al-Jin/The Jinn : 26-27]

This is the second verse that points out the infidelity of a person who claim to know about the unseen. Allah the Glorified and Exalted had commanded His prophet -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- to tell the mankind through His verse.

“(O Muhammad)! Say: “I do not say to you that I have the treasures of Allah; nor do I have knowledge of what is beyond the reach of perception; nor do I say to you that I am an angel. I only follow what is revealed to me.” [Al-An’am/The Cattle : 50]
